May Surgery be the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes ?
نویسنده
چکیده
Bariatric surgery has confirmed its efficacy and safety in treating patients with severe obesity. In such cases, a rapid improvement of diabetes usually occurs, which has led several authors to suggest extending this surgery to patients with diabetes with a moderate increment in weight or to subjects at risk of severe complications such as super-obese adolescents, subjects with diabetes over 55 years with impaired glycaemic equilibrium, women with diabetes or pre-diabetes before pregnancy, or subjects presenting with impaired fasting glucose. However, this raises many unresolved questions regarding the mechanisms involved in the resolution of glycaemic disorders, the risk of a recurrence of diabetes, the onset of nutritional disorders after surgery in pregnant women and older subjects, the risk of peri-operative complications and the efficacy and safety of recent endoluminal techniques. Long-term prospective and randomised studies are therefore necessary to answer questions linked to the use and extension of metabolic surgery.

متن کاملPharmacogenomic approach in type 2 diabetes treatment
Introduction: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is chronic health caused by the interaction between genetic and environmental factors that results in high blood glucose. The evidence-based guidelines for diabetes management are mainly based on lifestyle changes, control of risk factors, and the management of blood glucose levels. Although numerous antidiabetic agents have been developed over time, T2D trea...
متن کاملTreatment effect of GABA on improve type one diabetes in NOD mice
Introduction: Gama amino butyric acid (GABA) is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian nervous system. The concentration of GABA and the number of GABA cell secretion decrease in diabetic patient and experimental diabetes model. The reported effects of GABA activation on insulin secretion from beta cells have been controversial. In this study we investigated if GABA administr...
متن کاملAssociation between the level of glycosylated hemoglobin and serum lipid profile in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by defect in insulin secretion and action resulting in hyperglycemia. Diabetic patients have deranged body metabolisms particularly for lipids which may result in abnormal levels of serum levels of lipids. Methods: The aim of this study is to find any possible correlation between the the glycosylated hemoglobin and the...

Background: Combination of physical activity and pharmacotherapy in diabetes may augment the effects of the drug and may allow lower doses of medication that can minimize the side effects. The goal of the study was to determine the effectiveness of aerobic training and Glibenclamide combination in type 2 diabetes. Methods: A total of 28 men with type 2 diabetes were divided to 3 groups random...
